The second in our Shakespeare workshop strand. Come on down and take part!
Have-a-go Shakespeare is, as its name implies, a practical approach to Shakespeare run by professional theatre company Shakespeare Link. Phil Bowen and Sue Best, now artistic directors at the Willow Globe, are both seasoned theatre professionals who've worked around the world with projects ranging from the smallest community or educational project to working with flagship companies such as the English Shakespeare Company, the RSC, the Old Vic in London and the Royal Opera House.
Have-a-go sessions typically last three hours with a tea-break in the middle. Phil and Sue allocate scenes to small groups and all read and explore them before putting them on their feet, sharing and showing, without any pressure. Sessions are relaxed, fun, challenging but never threatening, allowing everyone to enjoy and access the plays, having a go at reading and acting out the text, bringing their own views and experience to enrich the mix and collaborating to explore and find fresh insights in familiar, or sometimes unfamiliar, language. The plays seem startlingly relevant and current for today. Would you like to be part of this exciting new group? Please ring Shakespeare Link on 01597 811487 or email info@shakespearelink.co.uk for more details.

On February 19th 1941, the Luftwaffe began a concerted three day attack on the town centre of Swansea. It destroyed 41 acres of the old mediaeval centre of the "Jewel of the West", and changed the face and the feel of Swansea for ever.
The Three Nights' Blitz, as it was known, claimed over 200 lives, and marked the most traumatic period in the "ugly, lovely town's" chequered history. For 3 nights, as in towns all over Britain, its survival depended on the gallant work of the Air Raid personnel, the Home Guard, and everyday people just doing their bit.
Following its successful run in Swansea last year, Goat Street Runners has been developed as a drama which reveals the spirit, bravery and unfailing humour of the people of the Second World War. Using music from the period, both sung live and on an evocative soundtrack, Goat Street Runners is based on the experiences, lives and loves of a fictional family living in a street that was to be removed from the map of Swansea for ever after the 21st of February 1941.

Fall Back Theory began in late 2009 with Benni Morris and Josh Lewis writing some new material from a variety of influencing artists; a few covers and a bunch of new songs and they found they had a great set. They then went out to find a bass player and, after advertising, phone calls and emailing, they spotted a young chap with a bass on his back, smacked him over the head and chucked him in the boot of the car... Raif Weaver has been with them ever since. To cut a long story short, Fall Back Theory is here! LET'S GO!

Two low-ranking airport officials put on a glitzy roadshow to highlight the important role they play in international security. Robin Nolan, one of the world's best-known and most admired Gypsy jazz guitarists, has been lauded for his musical genius and sensibilities by the late George Harrison, Willie Nelson, and Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.
While his inspiration lies in Gypsy Jazz, Latin and Hot Club de France, Robin has a decidedly contemporary feel and fires up his music with his own expressive "je ne sais quoi." Backed by his trio's hypnotic rhythms, his rippling melodic ideas and solos set him apart from his contemporaries. Whether playing jazz standards, original compositions, or a nod at rock and pop music, Robin always delights his audiences with a show of special splendour and style.
