BBC Radio 2's Johnnie Walker and Bob Harris are real fans. She's opened for Jools Holland, Paolo Nutini, Paul Buchanan, Seth Lakeman and the legendary Bill Wyman and currently a film is in the making based entirely on her brand new album ‘Compass'!
Jane's coming to Hay On Wye to promote her brand new album, ‘Compass' (currently available before her national release, through Bicycle Records), which was made last year with Mercury nominated producer Colin Elliot (famous for his work on the Richard Hawley albums) in Sheffield's much loved ‘Yellow Arch' studios.
The album features a full string orchestra, (borrowed from a session they were playing with the marvellous Tony Christie) the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass band (who performed in the film 'Brassed Off'), a gospel choir (made up of Bristol and Bath's finest songwriters and musicians), a very special rhythm track, (featuring everything from a rustling bin to the cellists impression of the sound of a dolphin), and beautiful classical and quirky string arrangements from her resident band Robin Davies, Bethany Porter and Feargus Heatherington.
Jane will be sharing with us songs from her 2 albums ‘Montpelier' & ‘Compass' (produced by Colin Elliot, famous for his work on Richard Hawley's ‘Coles Corner'), and will also be creating something Wintery and magical as we embark on December... but for now, go to www.myspace.com/janetaylormusic.com and get yourself a taste of what will turn out to be a very special evening indeed.
‘..Jane Taylor pens songs like a proper old school artist. They're not just tunes, they're classics. A little Eleanor Rigby style here, a little Nina Simone there, blues, jazz, new acoustic folk...she's a mixture of Tori Amos, Vaughan Williams, Paul Simon, Kate Rusby and Stacey Kent and then something very quintessentially English... I defy you not to find yourself quite moved, or at the very least humming one of her songs' Exceptional' - Time Out
‘A very talented lady indeed...' - Bob Harris BBC Radio 2
‘Music that will lift your spirits and soothe your soul. Achingly beautiful' - Venue
