Junior Bill

After four years the Globe welcomes back Junior Bill for what we are sure will be another memorable evening of music and dancing. Honed in their local youth club, Junior Bill's streetwise sound brings together the disparate influences of frontman and songwriter Rob Nichols ,from Lee Scratch Perry to Caetano Veloso. The set is peppered with catchy, astute and socially aware pop songs that nod to the likes of Elvis Costello, Pete Doherty and Jamie T. Their upcoming album, Youth Club! is a nostalgic paean to the places where the band spent their teens and were given the space to develop as musicians. Its blend of hi life, calypso, latin, reggae and soul forms a colourful backdrop to Rob's social commentary. As a live band, however, they become a blood and guts four piece, spitting witticisms into the mics with soulful joy and intensity.

Danny Goffey (Supergrass) - "One of my favourite bands is Junior Bill, who touch on a sound that is not heard any more"

Tom Robinson (6 Music) - "Everybody's talking about Junior Bill. A real grass-roots sound, instantly"
