Hay Free Radio is a brand new venture which aims to bring you incredible music, with both live sets from local musicians, and from a great selection of tracks by our DJs. Our DJs will be playing sets akin to the style of Mr Scruff, with an ecelctic mix. We are a community project looking to promote local talent with a series of live events over the coming year. We want to bring together a diverse crowd of all ages, whether that is into the physical space of an event, or via our radio station, who genuinely appreciate good music from talented musicians.

Our Hush Hush party will be an intimate affair with limited ticket numbers as an introduction to what Hay Free Radio is all about. Get your tickets quick before we sell out! 

Musicians and DJs

Tess will be performing live from her forthcoming debut EP. Tess loves to experiment with different writing styles and genres. Her lyrics are stories that the listener can easily connect with. 'When Tessa sings, the audience is mesmerised, hanging onto her every word'. 'A fusion of indie/folk /r&b with the most incredible voice'.

Hawk Howard will be performing live for us. A firm favourite in the local area for his incredible musicianship, versatility and joyous energy. Hawk will be performing a selection of numbers for us which will compliment the vibe of the night. 

Mark Hilton started his DJ career in Sheffield in the 90's. He owned a record shop which he ran during the day, and DJ'd in the clubs and bars of Sheffield at night, before moving on to play in London, and across Europe in venues such as Tresor in Berlin, Fabric and Plastic People in London. Mark has always stuck to his love of funk, soul, dance-floor Latin, nu Jazz - with a little bit of disco thrown in! Mark and Ovi will be playing a mix of these genres. Think: Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Gil Scott-Heron, Khruangbin, Ezra Collectve, Moodymann, Curtis Mayfield, Lady Blackbird, Nina Simone, DJ NU-Mark, Ikebe Shakedown, Sergio Mendes and The Meters, to name but a few!
